Roof Replacement Install in Lebanon, Ohio Shows How We Waterproof Low Sloped Roofs
Challenge
This home had water intrusions coming from its damaged roof. This roof was low sloped, so it would often have pools of still water sitting on top. Eventually, this water would make its way inside the home, even leaving stains on the first floor ceiling and walls. It was safe to say this roof was in pretty bad shape.
Solution
In order to waterproof this roof, we recommended to the homeowner that we install our KRS Sealoron Ice & Water Shield underlayment all over the roof. Normally, we only place this underlayment six feet up and away from all edges on other roofs, but this roof has so much standing water, it will last longest with this underlayment everywhere. This underlayment is also great because when we install the shingles with galvanized nails, the glue from the underlayment will wrap around the nails, further waterproofing the roof. We also recommended replacing most of the decking on the roof, as most of it had soaked up so much moisture that it became unfit to hold shingles. We finished by placing IKO Dynasty AR shingles in a Granite Black shade.
