Compromised Roof Fully Replaced in Richmond, Indiana
Challenge
This home in Richmond, Indiana had a severely compromised roof. The wood foundation of the roof was rotting, there were several access points for leaks, and the shingles were discolored, rotting, and peeling up. The homeowners were becoming very uncomfortable, as the roof was allowing water, snow, and wind into the home. Luckily, our trained technicians were able to provide them with a solution.
Solution
Our team stripped the original shingles off of the roof's wood foundation. They soon discovered that some of the wood was severely rotted on the roof, and was allowing water to infiltrate into the home. They removed all of the rotten wood and installed new wood.
The team then taped the seams between the wood to prevent leaks and began installing weatherproof liners and underlayment. This roof was fitted with Stormtite Synthetic Underlayment and IKO Stormshield. Stormtite is designed to effectively shed water that gets behind shingles and is engineered to be vapor-resistant. The IKO StormShield Ice and Water Protector is designed to prevent water damage due to ice dams and wind-driven rain. These systems combined are designed to protect the roof's bare wood from damage caused by water and ice.
After the underlayment and liner were installed, our team began fastening down IKO Cambridge shingles. These shingles came in our "dual black" color and are designed to provide long-lasting protection for the roof. This system also comes with a 25-year warranty.
Now that the new roof has fully been installed on this property the homeowners will no longer have to deal with the ill effects of a compromised roof and can begin enjoying their home to the fullest.
