Damaged Roof Restored with Klaus
Challenge
We were tasked with repairing a roof in Dayton that has sustained multiple kinds of damage. From what we could see, the roof had suffered from hail impact, wear and tear, wind and other weather, and potentially a larger impact that had damaged it. Due to this damage, we noticed impact marking from hail, uneven shingles, and even shingles peeling up. We knew that this roof would need a serious amount of work done - including a full replacement.
Solution
The first thing we did when we replaced this roof is stripped up all of the old roofing materials to see the bare wood of the roof below. We then replaced any damaged or rotting wood before installing our waterproof and ice proof weather-resistant liner. After that, we sealed the plywood seams with MFM tape and installed a synthetic felt on the balance of the wood. We installed new aluminum drip metal on all eaves of the roof deck, as well as a new aluminum rake metal on all outside rake edges. Once that was complete, and new vent pipe boot flashings and chimney flashings were installed, we began installing our new architectural lifetime shingles. Then we hauled away all the roofing debris - leaving the homeowners with a new, fortified roof free of damage.
