The Klaus Roofing Way

Here at Klaus Roofing Systems of Cincinnati, we know that our clients want a reliable roofing company nearby. We are dedicated to being that local roofer. That’s why the Klaus Roofing Way means integrity. We promise not to cut corners. We have the commitment to keep your home safe. We do that by taking our time to make sure we clean up all the nails from your yard before we leave. We are so serious about your safety that we’ve developed the "No Nail Pledge." Our promise goes even deeper than that. The Klaus Roofing Way isn’t just about how the roofing is done but also the roofing materials we use to get the job done.

The Roofing Materials Matter Too

Once the roofing is stripped away, we begin building your roof back up. Many times, we can tell if the decking needs to be replaced during our inspection. Sometimes, that is hard to determine without seeing what the wood looks like under the shingles. If we don’t need to replace it, that’s great! We just renail the decking with our ring shank nails to make sure the decking doesn’t come loose later.

When the decking does need to be replaced, we cut out the affected area and replace it with brand-new decking. Once the new decking is installed, we seal it with sheathing seams. The purpose of this tape is to protect your roof should your home take on wind damage.

If your roof is going to leak, the most likely place it’s going to start is at the eaves, edges, valleys, or roof penetrations. We keep your roof dry by using a peel-and-stick underlayment with a membrane that stretches and seals around the nails. This membrane is installed 6’ up from the eaves and at the valleys.

Did you know that you have metal framing on three sides of your house? In the roofing industry, we refer to this as the drip edge or rake edge. Our drip edge and rake edge are 50% wider than the average frame. Why? Because it makes our roofing material that much better! And because we love our customers, we love to give them the best material on the market.

How Our Roofing Shingle Installation is Superior

The shingles you see on the top of your roof aren’t the only layer that gets installed. There is an initial layer called “starter shingles.” One method that a lot of roofers like to use is utilizing shingles left over from another job site. They’ll flip the shingles upside down and nail them in. That’s bad news for your roof and something we would never do. This method jeopardizes the integrity of your roof because they’re nailing the shingles in an area that isn’t reinforced for nailing because the seal of the asphalt shingle isn’t in the right place. The roofing material we use is made specifically for the purpose of being a starter shingle. That way, it’s nailed in the right place.

Finally, our IKO asphalt shingles are installed on your roof. We love this brand because it is the highest quality roofing material we can put on your new roof. All of our architectural asphalt shingles have what’s called an ArmourZone Reinforcement Strip. It is located under each asphalt shingle so strong winds don’t lift it up and cause the nails to tear the roofing material. Depending on the type of shingle you choose, you can have up to a 50-year warranty.

At Klaus Roofing Systems of Cincinnati, we do roofing the way it’s meant to be done. We install every roof with integrity. We make sure that all of our roofing materials are made of the highest quality and, best yet, all of our roofing estimates are free! So what are you waiting for? Call us today!
